Route 8 road rage incident results in assault on officer

State Police are investigating a road rage incident that took place on Saturday, Aug. 5 along Route 8 that resulted in an officer being assaulted by an Ansonia man.

At approximately 8:42 a.m. on Aug. 5, Troop I Bethany investigated a road rage incident that occurred on Route 8 southbound in Shelton.

According to the investigating officer Jennifer Yokley’s report, the incident consisted of an altercation between two individuals.

Through the course of the investigation Mark Wingster, 30, of Ansonia was arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, resisting or interfering with an officer, reckless driving, risk of injury, and breach of peace.  The officer’s report didn’t disclose any information about Wingster’s alleged assault.

Wingster’s bond was set at $10,000 and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Monday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m.
