Fairfield Police have filed more charges against a man already arrested by Shelton Police for having sex with a minor.
Kerry H, McGuire, 38, of 245 Oakwood Ave., was arrested Friday, Aug. 17, at court, charged by Fairfield Police with first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. His bond was $200,000 for a court appearance that same day.
McGuire was arrested by Shelton Police on Tuesday, Aug. 7, charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, and violation of a protective order.
Fairfield Deputy Police Chief Christopher J. Lyddy said both agencies were involved because incident occurred in each town.
Fairfield Police were contacted by the State Police Computer Crimes Unit after they received a tip. The investigation began June 21.
During an online chat related to a game, a 13-year-old girl told someone on the line that she had been the victim of sexual contact, Lyddy said. Detectives located the computer from which the chat emanated, “and located the juvenile who disclosed the inappropriate and unlawful contact with a family member.”
There is only one victim, Lyddy said.
The contact between McGuire and the girl allegedly began when she was in fifth grade, he said.
McGuire is next due in state Superior Court in Derby to face the Shelton charges Aug. 27, and in Bridgeport Aug. 28 to face the Fairfield allegations, according to the state Judicial Department website. He remains in custody.
