Robert J. Wargo, age 78, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at his home after a brief and courageous battle with leukemia on Monday, October 22, 2012. He was the husband of the late Anna Sacco Wargo for 50 years.
He was born in Bridgeport on November 29, 1933 and was the grandson of the late Michael and Anna Vargo of Bridgeport.
He was a graduate of Harding High School Class of 1953. Mr. Wargo retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 38 years of service and had belonged to the Quarter Century Club. He had served three years in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Bob had been an avid sports fan, especially of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. He had played in many bowling and softball leagues throughout his life.
Survivors include two beloved children, Lynne DiVita and her husband, Robert, of Shelton and Robert Wargo, Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Pulaski, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Joseph and Alaina DiVita of Shelton and Kelsey, Robert III and Carly Wargo of Pulaski, Wisconsin and also special canine grandson, Matsui; brother, Roy White and his wife, Judy, of Monroe; and sister, Nancy Beaupre of Monroe; two sisters-in-law, Connie Sacco of West Haven and Rita Milone and her husband, Peter, of Hamden; brother-in-law, Louis Sacco and his wife, Barbara, of West Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Stephen Church, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Stephen J. Gleeson. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Trumbull. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford.
