The Shelton High boys basketball team dropped a 75-60 decision to hosts Amity High in a Southern Connecticut Conference Housatonic Division matchup in Woodbridge on Thursday night.
Zac Campbell powered the Spartans (13-4, 7-1 SCC Housy) with 22 points, as Amity locked up the Housatonic Division title. Classmates Gardner Broderick and Matt Lettick added 19 and 16 points respectively, as the Spartans led for all but one possession during the contest.
Campbell, a senior forward, scored the 1,000th point of his career.
Christian Federici scored a team-high 14 for Shelton (7-10, 3-5), which needs one more victory to qualify for the SCC and state tournaments. Ben Malay and Craig Packnick chipped in with 10 points apiece for the Gaels, while Mike Davis added 11.
Shelton takes on Guilford (7-8) at Kenefick Gymnasium on Tuesday at 7.
