Huntington Library hosts Mother-Daughter Tea Party

Archana and Nikita Mutalik were both dressed up for the Mother-Daughter Tea Party at the Huntington Branch Library.

A group of young girls and their mothers wore their fanciest attire, carrying their tea cups in hand for the Mother-Daughter Tea party at the Huntington Branch Library held last weekend.

The group showed up wearing their finest dresses and biggest smiles in anticipation of a morning full of storytime, tea-themed bingo, and an arts and crafts project of making a doll out of a spoon.

The tea room’s yellow tablecloth was topped with pink flowers and afternoon snacks ranging from frosted party dress shaped marshmallows to whipped Jell-O and birthday cake-flavored Teddy Grahams.

The young guests in attendance were extremely happy to go to a fancy occasion with their moms. Triplets Meghan, Keira, and Clare Conway, 8, brought their mom, Kathy Conway, to the tea party with some of their favorite mugs. The girls exclaimed that their teacups were special.

“Our grandfather gave them to us,” explained the triplets. “Two are famous paintings of Monet and one is a Van Gogh.”

Harmony Stubbs, 7, came prepared for the tea party dressed with her extra-long white gloves. In order to “get into the zone” to play tea-themed bingo, she put the gloves on in order to help her win.

The biggest activity of the day was when Family Services Librarian at the Huntington Branch Library Marissa Correia, and her mom, Claudia Ciullo, read Bonny Becker’s A Visitor for Bear to the mothers and daughters at the event.

“I started the Mother-Daughter Tea Party a long time ago with my mom back when I worked in Oxford,” said Correia “I love doing this with my mom.”
