The following candidates are running for a spot on the city’s Library board:
James E Geissler (R)
Jim has been a life-long Shelton resident and has been married to Nancy Cook Geissler for 43 years. He became a member of the Library Board in 2012 to fill a seat when a Board member moved from Shelton and has served as its Chairman since 2016. At the present time, Jim and the Library Board are working with the City of Shelton’s administration to have an elevator installed and are making plans to refurbish areas of the library.
A graduate of Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Jim retired from the Shelton Board of Education after 22 years where he worked in Truancy Outreach. He previously was employed for 10 years by Area Cooperative Services as a counselor and presently works part-time with the Shelton Youth Bureau directing the Juvenile Review Board.
Jim’s community service also includes 10 years with the Parent-Child Resource Center. A member of St. Joseph Parish, he served on its Parish Council for eight years and as its Chairman for three years. A 20-year member of the Visiting Nurse Service’s Partners-in- Care Board of Directors, he is presently serving as its Board Chairman.
Lou Dagostine (D)
Louis J. Dagostine is a fourth generation resident of Shelton. He is a proud 1992 graduate of Shelton High School and is the oldest son of two retired Shelton educators. He lives in Shelton with his wife and two children.
Louis graduated from Colby College and Hofstra University School of Law. He currently practices law at Ciulla & Donofrio, LLP in North Haven and has previously been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers for several years.
Giving back to the community is very important to Louis. From 2013 to present, he has served as an elected member of Shelton’s Board of Apportionment & Taxation. Louis serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley and is Chairman of its Legal and Insurance Committee. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce. Louis is a current Corporator at the Valley United Way.
