Girls volleyball: Shelton edged out in SCC playoffs

Shelton High’s girls volleyball team lost a 3-2 decision to East Haven, in a first-round SCC match on Saturday.

Coach LeAnne Bianchine’s 11th-seeded Gaelettes won the first two sets, 25-23, 25-21.

The sixth-seeded Easties bounced back to win the next two, 25-19, 25-17, before taking the fifth set 15-9.

Leading Shelton were Danielle Kreitler (13 kills, 4 blocks, 28 digs), Emily Renkowsky (13 digs), Elise Wardell (13 digs) and Sara DeMarco (32 digs).
