Shelton drops 3-2 overtime decision in semifinals

The Shelton High girls soccer team lost a 3-2 overtime decision to Daniel Hand in an SCC semifinal game in Madison on Monday.

McKenzie Joyce and Kelly Hurd scored first half goals for the fourth-seeded Gaelettes, now 12-4-2.

Top-seeded Daniel Hand (16-1-1) saw Sam Riordan score two goals and Kayla Howard one.

Shelton’s Zoe Rogers, Haley Oko and Maggie Howard had assists.

Courtney Litts stopped seven shots by the Tigers.

Daniel Hand’s Morgan Lipford made eight saves.

Shelton had 15 shots to 10 for the Tigers.

Daniel Hand will play third-seeded Jonathan Law for the title on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at West Haven High.

The Lady Lawmen defeated No. 2 Sheehan High, 3-0, in their semifinal.
