Shelton harvests records at SCC swim championship

The Shelton High School girls swim team finished sixth with 545.5 points at the Southern Connecticut Conference championship meet on Wednesday night at Southern Connecticut State University.

Coach Tom Jurzynski’s Gaelettes were led by their freestyle relay teams.

The team of Emma Parkes, Louise Kim, Caitlin McGuire and Simona Visinski won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.24.

The team of Parkes, Kim, Alyssa Bretan and Visinski won the 400 freestyle relay with a school record time of 3:36.07, touching just ahead of Cheshire’s foursome who finished in 3:36.08.

Kim was a first place finisher in the 50 freestyle with a school record time of 24.05.

She added a second place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.28.

Visinski finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.27 and fourth in the 100 butterfly with a school record time of 59.26.

Parkes finished third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.14 and tied for fourth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.75.

Bretan finished eighth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:27.77.
