The Planning & Zoning Commission is the economic engine for the City of Shelton, where business begins and where the economic future of Shelton is discussed and decided. I am running for re-election to Planning & Zoning because we must insist on good economic growth that maintains the tax rate, respects your neighborhood and enhances our quality of life.
I grew up in Shelton and attended Shelton Public Schools. After attending Fordham University in New York, I returned home and got involved in organizations like the Valley United Way and Boys & Girls Club that support Shelton youth and families.
Previously elected to the Board of Apportionment and Taxation, I saw first-hand the kinds of developments maintain our tax-rate and expand the grand list. I worked with my colleagues – Republicans and Democrats – to decrease the tax-rate while maintaining key city services.
I believe in a business-friendly community that maintains a stable tax-rate while preserving the character of our neighborhoods. That’s why I have spoken out for balanced development and voted against Shelton Ridge – the 121 acre high-density retail and residential development.
I listen to residents first and foremost, not developers.
I never stop thinking about Shelton’s future. That’s why I am committed to balanced development that enhances our quality of life, considering our road and infrastructure needs. As a resident of Downtown Shelton, I am focused on making Downtown a more vibrant place with expanded parking, quality shops and eateries.
