Girls volleyball: Shelton loses to Amity in state tourney

The 28th-seeded Shelton High girls volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to No. 5-seed Amity High in a Class LL state tournament first round match in Woodbridge on Monday.

Coach LeAnne Bianchine’s team closed the season with an 8-14 record.

Amity, now 15-3, will host No. 21-seed Simsbury High (12-8) in the next round.

Leading Shelton vs Amity were Danielle Kreitler, who had an ace, five digs, five kills and three blocks.

Angie Toth had an ace and two kills.

Sara Demarco had two aces and 10 digs.
