Police identify Shelton man who died after car accident

A 92-year-old man died Monday following a two-car accident on Walnut Tree Hill Road.

Police have identified the man as  Robert Bartram of Shelton.

Around 9:30 a.m., Shelton police were dispatched to Walnut Tree Hill Road by Short Street for a two car motor vehicle accident. The fire department and EMS were also sent because it was reported that one person was unable to get out of the vehicle due to the damage to the door.

Shelton police, fire and EMS responded to the scene. The driver of the Honda, a 92- year-old resident of Shelton, was extricated from his vehicle. He did not have any visible injuries, and he was conscious and communicating with personnel at scene, but was transported to the hospital after complaining of chest pain, police said.

The driver of the Mazda, Julie Hall, 24, of Shelton, reported minor injuries from the accident.

The initial investigation by police revealed that the driver of the Honda was exiting a driveway when his vehicle collided with a Mazda traveling north on Walnut Tree Hill Road.

It was later reported to police that the driver of the Honda died at the hospital.

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating this accident. Any witnesses or persons with additional information may call 203-924-1544.
