Boys swimming: Shelton’s Chavez a double winner

Shelton High lost to Xavier of Middletown, 92-84, in boys swimming and diving on Thursday.

Reid Chavez won the 100 individual medley and was first in the 100 breaststroke for coach Tom Jurzynski’s Gaels (3-2).

Korey Barber was first in the 100 butterfly and took second in the 200 freestyle.

Chavez, Matt Balcerzak, Matt Richard and Barber won the 200 freestyle relay.

Barber, Matt Cristiano, Marc Maleri and Chavez were first in the 400 freestyle relay.

Maleri took first place in the 100 backstroke and was third in the 100 freestyle.

Richard placed second in the 100 freestyle.

Jack Marciano was second in the 100 butterfly.

Christiano was third in the 200 freestyle.

Maleri, Cristiano, Marciano, Richard were second in the 200 medley relay.

Balcerzak placed third in the 50 freestyle.

Rajan Caccam was third in the 100 backstroke.

Carson Rhodes placed third in the 100 breaststroke.

Caccam, Ken Walsh, Benjamin Van Tine and Marciano were third in the 200 freestyle relay.
