Girls basketball: Shelton to visit Hamden in SCC’s first round

Shelton High will visit Hamden High on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the Southern Connecticut Conference girls basketball playoffs.

Fourteen teams qualified. No. 1 seed Mercy and No. 2 seed East Haven received first-round bye. Mercy is the defending SCC champion.

First Round – Thursday, Feb. 15 @Higher Seeds

#14 Cheshire at #3 Daniel Hand – 6 p.m.

#13 Shelton at #4 Hamden – 6 p.m.

#12 Lyman Hall at #5 Amity Regional – 6:30 p.m.

#11 Guilford at #6 Wilbur Cross – 6:30 p.m.

#10 Hillhouse at #7 Career – 6:30 p.m.

#9 Jonathan Law at #8 Sheehan – 6:30 p.m.

Quarterfinals – Saturday, Feb. 17 @Sheehan HS

#1 Mercy vs.  Jonathan Law/Sheehan winner – 11 a.m.

Hamden/Shelton winner vs. Amity Regional/Lyman Hall winner – 12:45 p.m.

#2 East Haven vs. Career/Hillhouse winner – 2:30 p.m.

Daniel Hand/Cheshire winner vs. Wilbur Cross/Guilford winner – 4:15 p.m.

Semifinals – Monday, Feb. 19 @Jonathan Law – 6 and 7:45 p.m.

Championship Game – Wednesday, Feb. 21 @East Haven HS – 7 p.m.
