THIS WEEKEND– Trails Work Party Feb. 24

On Saturday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. the Trails Committee is hosting a work party for the new Stockmal Trail, Route 110.

A new trail is in the works, starting at the Shelton Land Trust’s Willis Woods property on the north side of route 110, across from Nicholdale Farm. The trail leads to the site of an old Scout camp above Means Brook. The trail has been blazed, but there’s more clearing to be done and a bridge to be built for an easier stream crossing. If you’d like to help, join the group on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. Park at the pull off on the north side of Route 110 (Leavenworth Road), just west of Nicholdale Road, where the gas pipeline crosses the road. Work parties generally last a couple hours, but any amount of time you can spare is appreciated. Students can count trails work party time towards their community service hours. Dress for the weather and bring work gloves and water. The group will have clippers, loppers and other tools, or feel free to bring your own.
