The Spooner House is currently looking for teams, participants, sponsors and drawing prizes for its 21st annual Walk for the Hungry and Homeless happening on Saturday, May 19.
Stroll along the Derby Greenway on the morning of May 19 in support of hunger and homeless initiatives in the Lower Naugatuck Valley. Visit www.SpoonerHouseWalk.com to sign up and learn more. Parking will be available in BJ’s parking lot.
The entire walking route is roughly 2.8 miles (1.4 miles there, 1.4 miles back) with the option for a longer route of 3.4 miles total. Participants can choose to walk any distance they would like and can turn around at any time. Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9 a.m.
Registration is $20 per person and can be completed online or at the Walk Kick-Off or before the Walk during registration.
The Day Before-Walk Kick-Off and Open House will take place on Friday, May 18 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Spooner House, located at 30 Todd Road in Shelton. Register in person and drop off your offline pledges. Pick up your walk t-shirt and goodie bag. Also, tour the Spooner House if you haven’t before.
*The first 150 walkers to raise at least $20 will receive a Walk t-shirt and goodie bag
*All walkers will be given one ticket for a drawing
*Prizes will be awarded to team with most participants, individual who raises the most money, and team who raises the most money
