Obituary: Elizabeth Gorzelany, 93, enjoyed helping her family on their farm

Elizabeth Gorzelany, 93, of Shelton entered into her eternal rest on Thursday, February 28, 2013 in the Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shelton. She was the devoted wife of the late Casmir Gorzelany, and the beloved mother of the late Gary Gorzelzny.

Mrs. Gorzelany was born in Shelton July 2, 1919 daughter of the late John and Mary (Oczkowski) Wiacek, and was a lifelong Shelton resident.

She enjoyed helping her family on their farm, raising vegetables, and growing beautiful gladiolus. She was also known for making flower arrangements for her family on special occasions

Mrs. Gorzelany was the loving sister-in-law of John Splan, Elma Jean Wiacek, and Isabella WIacek. She was the loving god-mother of Shawn Splan, and Jean Ramonas. She also leaves her other loving nieces and nephews Walter Wiacek, Debra Bartone, William Wiacek, Chester Wiacek, Jr. , Cathleen Mulnar, and Francine Campbell. She also leaves many great nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her 5 brothers Frank Wiacek, John Wiacek, Jr., Joseph Wiacek,Chester Wiacek, Sr., and Walter Wiacek, and also predeceased by her 2 sisters Cecelia Splan, and Jeannie Wiacek.

Friends may greet her family on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth Street Derby. On Monday her funeral will leave the funeral home at 8:45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church Derby. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery Derby.
