Shelton resident and St. Joseph High School senior Matt Batten recently signed his National Letter of Intent to play Division I baseball for the Quinnipiac University Bobcats, under head coach Dan Gooley.
An honor student, member of student government and student ambassador at St. Joseph, Batten said, “I am really happy with my decision to join Quinnipiac University and the Bobcats. I can’t wait to get started.”
Batten has been no stranger to success on the field. In 2008, he was a member of the Shelton National Little League that represented New England at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
His junior year at St Joseph, Batten earned All-FCIAC, All-State, All-MSG CT Area and Triple Crown All-Defensive Team honors. Batten will captain and play shortstop for the Cadets this season.
