Home health care worker arrested for larceny

A Southington woman was arrested today for allegedly stealing from the woman she was caring for in her role as a home health care aid.

Kelly Savage

Kelly Savage, 39, was charged with second-degree larceny in connection with a complaint filed with Shelton police late last month. The complainant’s mother was being assisted daily by home health care workers.

Shelton Police Det. Christopher Nugent said family members reported that several pieces of significant jewelry were missing from their mother’s room. Police investigated the incident, said Nugent, and were able to recover and link Savage to the missing jewelry.

Savage was held on a $75,000 bond on the Shelton police charge and will be transported to Derby Superior Court on Dec. 5.

Savage was stopped by police in Groton earlier today and turned over to the Shelton police, which had the warrant for her arrest on the larceny charge. Savage also has two outstanding arrest warrants for failure to appear in court. Savage is being held on a total bond of $87,000.
