Parents seeking positive solutions for getting young children to cooperate will welcome the free workshop at Plumb Memorial Library on Monday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. Special guest Bill Corbett will offer ideas for dealing with bedtime, mealtime and homework in daily routines. He will also suggest methods to deal with meltdowns and tantrums. Parents will be offered tools to meet tough behavior challenges such as coping with power struggles, using time-out and getting kids to listen.
Corbett is the award-winning author of Love, Limits and Lessons. He is the executive producer and host of cable TV’s Creating Cooperative Kids. Corbett, a national parent educator, has multiple psychology degrees and is a contributor on NBC and ABC Connecticut and Massachusetts affiliates.
The program is one of a series provided by the Shelton School Readiness Council as a community service. Refreshments and door prizes are part of the free evening, which is geared to parents and caregivers as well as early education professionals. Financial support for the program is provided by a grant from the Valley Community Foundation and is co-sponsored by the Shelton Library System.
