Juniors and seniors of Lower Naugatuck Valley high schools and their parents are invited to a prom safety event from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 at Griffin Hospital, 130 Division Street, Derby.
“Underage drinking and distracted driving increases during prom season and the most powerful tool against underage drinking is parents,” said Cathleen Kellett of Griffin Hospital’s Community Outreach & Valley Parish Nurse Program.
The event will feature important information on how parents can keep their teens safe on prom night from guest speakers, including Tim Hollister, a vocal advocate of safe teen driving whose 17-year-old son, Reid, died in a one-car accident in 2006.
Griffin Hospital will provide refreshments and participating students will receive free gift cards and be entered into a grand prize drawing.
This event is free, but seating is limited. RSVP by March 22 at 203-924-7614 or email@example.com. Provide your name, phone number, town and number of guests.
The event is sponsored by The Valley Community Foundation, Shelton Youth Service Bureau, Ansonia Public Schools, Valley United Way Youth Leadership, Valley Parish Nurse Program, and Griffin Hospital.
