Last year, many shaved their heads.

The Huntington Fire Company, along with Hirschbeck’s Grill, are sponsoring a lunch for a child (and his/her parent), with firefighters as one of the St. Baldrick’s raffle prizes. Tickets will be available during the event as well as on Sunday mornings between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and Wednesday evenings between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., at the Huntington Fire house at 44 Church Street in Shelton.

The raffle prize includes a ride in a fire truck from your home (Shelton only) to the restaurant and back, free lunch for the lucky child (and his/her parent) that wins with firefighters at our local sponsor Hirshbeck’s Grille, two fire house T-shirts, and a picture in front of the truck with a few firefighters.

About the event

Organizers of the upcoming benefit for the St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser are looking for volunteers to shave their heads or to donate raffle prizes.

The Huntington Fire Co. No. 3 of the Shelton Fire Department will host its annual event to benefit childhood cancer research on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. It will be at Downtown Danny O’s, 441 Howe Avenue.

Volunteers, often referred to as “shavees,” get their heads shaved to show solidarity for children undergoing treatment for cancer. People can create private groups and join the fundraiser and compete with other groups in the event for a prize.
