Two Shelton men are charged with burglary, larceny and criminal mischief in connection with the theft of copper from a building on the Fairfield Hills campus in Newtown.
On the evening of Wednesday, March 13, police were called to a secured vacant building, on the property of Fairfield Hills, to investigate the report of two men — later identified as John Rodia, 49, and John Marlin, 53 — stealing copper from inside the building. The call was made by a concerned citizen, said police.
Police stated officers were able to quickly surround the building and apprehend one of the suspects, but the other suspect had fled the area just prior to police arrival.
The second suspect was shortly thereafter apprehended, according to Newtown law enforcement, with the assistance of Shelton police who were waiting for him at his residence.
Rodia and Marlin were both charged with burglary, larceny and criminal mischief in connection with the incident. The two were released after posting bond.
