Gaelettes in a rebuilding season

The Shelton High softball team began the season this week with head coach Joann Desrochers trying to find replacements for the seven seniors she graduated from last year.
The Gaelettes have made the state tournament four straight seasons, but the rebuilding process has begun.
Shelton opened the season with a 7-2 loss to Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden.
Gina Ciambriello and Alexandra Mingolello belted doubles to pace the six hit attack.
The Gaelettes broke into the win column on Thursday led by the one-hit pitching of Kaycee Talcik, as Shelton banged out 15 hits on its way to a 23-0 win over Wilbur Cross of New Haven.
On Saturday, Talcik and West Haven’s Camdyn Morgillo locked up in a pitcher’s duel with each hurler surrendering just two hits.
The Westies edged out Shelton by a 1-0 margin as the Gaelettes fell to 1-2 on the season.
