Shelton resident Robert Ullrich has been promoted to director of facility operations for Waveny Care Network of New Canaan. In the position, Ullrich will manage and oversee the mechanical systems, operations and new construction throughout the healthcare organization’s 100,000-square-foot campus.
The operation includes Waveny Care Center, The Village at Waveny Care Center, an adult day program, and related on-site services and programs.
As Waveny maintenance engineer and licensed electrician during the past five years, Ullrich provided around-the-clock coverage during Hurricane Irene, Superstorm Sandy and other inclement weather events. He chairs Waveny’s Safety Committee and is active on both fire safety and disaster drill task forces.
According to Elyse Dent, Waveny Care Network campus administrator, “The degree of initiative Rob has demonstrated within his department over the past five years, coupled with his breadth of expertise specific to Waveny’s maintenance needs, made him a highly qualified candidate for the position. I know I echo our management team and staff in congratulating him on this well-deserved promotion.”
Worked at Wavenly since 2009
Ullrich began working at Waveny in 2009. He has been responsible for coordinating projects such as the replacement of carpeting throughout the facility, the installation of a new kitchen FOG (fats, oils and grease) system, and significant renovations to Waveny Care Center’s resident bathrooms, bedrooms, ceilings and dining areas.
He also played a lead role in the advanced wiring and hardware installation for Waveny’s recent transition to a campus-wide wireless network.
Making sure projects proceed smoothly
“There are many exciting projects happening now and in the near future at Waveny, which I’m proud to oversee alongside our stellar team,” Ullrich said.
“From the comprehensive renovations to the Care Center’s special care unit projected to start this summer, to the installation of a 750 kW generator to power our whole campus during inclement weather like Superstorm Sandy, our primary job is to ensure all projects proceed smoothly with minimum inconvenience to those we serve,” he said.
