Green Ribbon ride begins in Shelton, helps Sandy Hook victims

Shelton-Green-RibbonThe Green Ribbon Ride to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting will ride through towns throughout the area, including Shelton.

The ride will be Sunday, May 5, starting in Shelton at 10:30 a.m. Riders will travel through Derby, Seymour, Oxford, Monroe, Newtown and Trumbull, ending at the Westfield Mall in Trumbull.

 

Signing up to participate

Registration fee is $20 per person and limited to the first 3,000 riders. Registration must be done in person, and the form is available at greenribbonride.com.

Pre-register the day before the event on Saturday, May 4, at Carl Anthony’s Restaurant, Clocktower Square, 477 Main St., Monroe, or register the day of the event from 8 a.m. to the start of the ride at the corner of Howe Avenue and Cornell Street (close to the Riverwalk) in downtown Shelton.

 

Money to benefit families and funds

All money raised will be paid out directly to 10 Newtown funds and local children’s charities, including to the 26 families, Sandy Hook Family Healing Fund, Newtown Police Union, Newtown EMS, the five Newtown fire departments, local children’s charities, Center for Women and Families, and Al’s Angels.
