Scott Makowski and Michelle Hornak of Derby purchase T-shirts to remember the ride at the registration tent. Motorcyclists head over the Derby-Shelton bridge toward Route 34 to begin the 29.5-mile ride for Newtown. Jeff Bobbins of New Fairfield, joined by his daughter Nicole at the start of Green Ribbon Ride in Shelton, had a special emblem put on his windshield to commemorate the charity event. Event organizer Fred Garrity Jr., on the right, and Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti address the crowd at the opening ceremony.
