Six Shelton High School students, accompanied by their FBLA advisor Nancy Duffy, attended the Connecticut Future Business Leaders of America Spring Leadership Conference on April 22.

The students, who are members of SHS FBLA, are Michael Torres, Greg Martin, John Kocur, Tom Caruso, Amanda Brighindi and Eric Howard. They took part in competitive events and attend business-related workshops.

Michael was presented with the “Who’s Who in Connecticut FBLA” award. This award recognizes students for being active in their local chapter and assisting in chapter activities. Michael was nominated for the award by Duffy.

“It is a great honor to win the award and receive recognition for the hard work I put into the club,” said Michael.

Greg won first place, public speaking; Michael, third place, business ethics; John, third, business ethics and Tom, third place, impromptu speaking.

“SHS FBLA exceeded our expectations at the spring conference, represented our school well and brought home several trophies,” said Dr. Beth Smith, headmaster at SHS. “Congratulations to Mrs. Duffy and the students on a job well done.”
