Obituary: Queene Ayvazian, of Shelton, wife of the late Arto Ayvazian

Queene Ayvazian, wife of the late Arto Ayvazian and resident of Shelton, went to her eternal rest at Hewitt Health & Rehabilitation on May 6.

She was born in New York City on September 8, 1929, daughter of the late Berge & Rose Semizian Basmajian.

She graduated from George Washington High School, NY as well as attending the City College of New York. She was a longtime New Jersey resident of New Milford, moving to Shelton CT in 2009.

She had worked as Director of Client Services for Centrac Market Research Inc. She volunteered at Armenian National Chorus in New York, Armenian Chorale of New Jersey and in Choir services for St. Illuminators Armenian Apostolic Cathedral in NY & Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church in NJ. She also volunteered at the Armenian Relief Society of Bergen County NJ.

Queene was a devoted daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt & friend. She loved the country of her birth and grew up with a strong Armenian identity.

Among the survivors left to cherish her memory are her children Berge, Laurens, Susan & Adrienne.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Leon Armenian Church, 12-61 Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn, NJ. Services were officiated by Rev. Diran Bohajian & Rev. Untzag Nalbandian. Interment in George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Queene’s memory may be made to either the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension in Trumbull, CT or St. Leon Armenian Church of Fair Lawn, NJ.
