Rubber Ducky Club — Summer reading program geared to children infant to 36 months and their caregivers. Fill-out a duck marker for your child, collect your Rubber Ducky Club Log and get started.

 

Afternoon Knitters — Wednesdays, June 26 and July 3, 1 p.m. Local knitters, new members welcome; meets in main floor reading room for the summer.

 

Dig Into Nature — Wednesday June 26, 1:30 p.m. Animal Embassy visits with children 4 and older, bringing animals that dig and burrow – snake, tortoise, toad, ferret, salamander and others. Free program, come early to reserve a seat.

 

Library Lego Club — Wednesday June 26, 6 p.m. Kids 3-12 years create original sculpture using Lego and Duplos from the library collection; creations go on display until next month’s session. Free program, kids drop in with families, no Legos from home, please.

 

Digging into AlphaBits — Thursday, June 27, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.

 

Stay & Play — Fridays, June 28 and July 5, 10:30 a.m.  Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.

 

Teen Volunteer Orientation — Friday, June 28. 12:30 p.m. Teens and their parents interested in earning hours for next school year get more information for planning and scheduling, volunteers must be 12-19 years and not completing these hours for court or disciplinary boards.

 

TAB — Friday, June 28, 3 p.m. Teens 13-19 advise the library on collections, programs and décor; drop in or apply to be a permanent member (earn volunteer hours).

 

Summer Saturday Closings — June 29 Plumb Library closed on Saturdays until after Labor Day. The branch remains open Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the end of July.

 

Kids Summer Reading Club — Monday, July 1, summer reading reporting begins for children pre-k through 12 years; registration continues throughout the summer, earn a ticket for each book reported on to enter weekly raffles for book prizes; after eight books are completed, tickets for end of summer prizes are earned.

 

Happy Birthday Summer — Tuesday, July 2, 1:30 p.m. Kids pre-k to sixth grade celebrate the summer theme “Dig into Reading” by making “Dirt Dessert.” Miss Kathi’s book talk explores favorites plus shares new titles. Space is limited, arrive early to reserve a seat.

 

knit! — Tuesdays, July 2 and 9, 6 p.m. Knitters meet to share and support.

 

Kids in the Kitchen — Tuesday July 2, 6 p.m. Kids three and older learn basic kitchen skills, practice on real food then eat the results; dress for mess, adults stay to assist. This week celebrate the U.S. with red, white, and blue food dessert-worthy (fruit) salad.

 

Compost Stew — Wednesday,  July 3, 1:30 p.m. Kellogg Environmental Center brings the makings for kids 4 and older to create. Learn what makes plants grow and gardens thrive; space is limited, come early to reserve a seat.

 

On display – glass and ceramic pole insulator collection from Max Dymerski, a nine year old student at Elizabeth Shelton School; fly fishing antiques and collectibles from a Shelton native and fishing enthusiast; American pottery: Roseville, McCoy – real thing or lookalikes?

 

Home Delivery – Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials.
