Dancing the night away on the Huntington Green

The Bernadettes keeps the crowd entertained despite weather issues

The Huntington Green was packed with excitement Wednesday night as the first concert in the 2013 Music Under the Stars series took place.

Many concert-goers began dancing in front of the gazebo as the night went on.

The Bernadettes entertained the crowd with rhythm-and-blues, Motown and other music. Rain caused a slight delay as the musicians were moved to underneath the gazebo, and then the weather improved.

At almost 9 p.m., almost two hours after the show began, the Green was still hopping with many people — from youngsters to seniors — dancing and singing to the tunes.

Concerts held every week

The concert series is presented by the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department with the help of private sponsors.

Concerts are held on Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. Upcoming shows are:

— July 3, Mia and the Riff, followed by the fireworks (this concert, featuring singer Mia Fanali of Shelton, takes place at downtown’s Veterans Memorial Park/Riverwalk)

— July 10, The Navels
