Boy Scout Troop 28 presented rank advancements at a Court of Honor ceremony on June 13.
• Eagle Palm earned by Brandon Guittard.
To earn this Eagle Palm, a Scout must be an Eagle Scout, have earned at least 31 merit badges, must be active in his troop for at least six months since earning the rank of Eagle, demonstrate the Scout Oath and Scout Law, and continue to develop leadership skills.
First Class Rank
• First Class Rank earned by Charlie Chagnon, CJ Garcia and Robbie Delgado.
To earn this rank, Scouts had to orienteer a one-mile compass course, participate in at least 10 separate troop activities, help plan a patrol menu for three meals, serve as cook for the three planned meals, discuss with a local official his constitutional rights and obligations as a U.S. citizen, discuss and demonstrate usage of lashings and the bowline knot, demonstrate first aid skills and demonstrate Scout spirit by living the Scout Oath and Scout Law in everyday life.
Second Class Rank
• Second Class Rank earned by Charlie Chagnon, Kevin Demaine and John Wood.
To earn this rank, Scouts had to show how a compass works, take part in a five-mile hike, actively participate in five separate troop activities, participate in a flag ceremony, demonstrate safe swim and water rescue techniques, participate in a program showing the dangers of using drugs, alcohol and tobacco, participate in a one-hour community service project, and demonstrate Scout spirit by living the Scout Oath and Scout Law in everyday life.
• Tenderfoot Rank earned by Ian Tyler and Kenny Walsh.
The Scouts earned this rank by improving their physical fitness, participation with their patrol in a campout, demonstrating basic first aid skills, demonstrating hiking safety, and displaying Scout spirit by learning the Scout Oath, Law, Slogan and Motto.
• The Scout Badge was earned by Charlie O’Brien, Isaac Seyer, Ryan Berger, Ian Tyler, Kenny Walsh, Matthew Balcerzak and Kyle Young.
The Scouts earned this badge by knowing the Pledge of Allegiance, the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Motto, Scout Slogan and Outdoor Code, and demonstrate tying a square knot.
