Family Resource Center offers summer programs for Valley

Family Resource Center (FRC), located at TEAM Inc in Derby, is offering summer programs for area families with children. TEAM Inc. is a private, nonprofit social service agency that covers the Valley, including Shelton.

Summer reading program

Wednesdays, 10-11 a.m., on July 10, 17, 24 and 31

Derby Public Library

For children age 5 to 8 to enjoy reading and learning new skills along with other activities.

 

Zumba Fit Kids Club

Thursdays, 3-4 p.m. on July 11, 18, 25 and Aug. 1

Ballroom Dance Sport, 33 Elizabeth St., Derby

Children ages 5 to 8 can move to the beat of Zumba taught by a certified instructor, and families can get tips on healthy eating and fun cardio activities.

 

Kinder Kamp

Aug. 19 to 23, from 9-11 a.m.

FRC, TEAM Inc., 30 Elizabeth St., Derby

For children who are entering kindergarten in the fall, and presented by a certified kindergarten teacher. The camp will be the introduction to cooperative learning and listening skills with a combination of academics, music and movement.

 

Rhythm & Things

Wednesdays, noon-1 p.m. on July 10, 17, 24 and 31

For children from birth to age 8, learn and explore with music and dance. Children will be introduced to musical instruments, rhythm and beats.

 

Spanish play groups

Wednesdays, 5-6 p.m. on July 10, 17, 24 and 31

FRC, TEAM Inc., 30 Elizabeth St., Derby

For Spanish-speaking families and children (birth to age 8) to socialize, learn and network. Literacy, music and active play will be included.
