Shelton Boy Scout collecting items for Spooner House

A Shelton Boy Scout is organizing a food and hygiene drive to benefit the Spooner House Food Bank as his Eagle Scout project.

Items being sought are nonperishable food such as cereal, peanut butter, pasta and canned meats, and toiletries such as soap, shampoo, sanitary items, diapers and toothpaste.

Chris Friend, a Life Scout with Troop 19, will set up three donation bins around town through July 30. Bin locations are C&C Auto Mechanics, 50 White St.; Newtown Savings Bank 815 Bridgeport Ave.; and St. Margaret Mary Church, 380 Long Hill Ave.

Spooner House is a Shelton-based nonprofit organization providing food, shelter and support services to those in need in the Valley.

Donors wanting to contact Friend can send an email to [email protected]

Boy Scout Troop 19 meets at St. Joseph School in Shelton.
