Benanto Real Estate took a pair of nail-biter decisions over Haynes Materials, 16-15 and 13-11, to highlight the week’s action in the Valley Independent Softball League.
In the opener, Benanto held a 15-10 lead going into the top of the seventh when Haynes scored five times to tie the score. The Realtors quickly responded with a lead-off double by Jason Dziubina and Ben Bartone’s follow up single that drove in Dziubina with the game-winning tally.
Steve Tilki, winning pitcher Tom Soda and Dziubina led Benanto’s offense with four base hits apiece. Dziubina accounted for three RBIs, while Soda included a double and a triple in his hits.
The nightcap saw the Realtors overcome an early 7-3 deficit to pull away to their 13-11 win.
Tilki finished off his hot night with another four-hit performance. Anthony DeFala and Dziubina notched three hits each.
Microboard Processing, Inc. got rid of that zero in the win column by sweeping a pair of games from Gen-El-Mec, 11-8 and 22-4.
Jorge Rivera totalled six hits including a double, a triple and a home run to lead the victors offensively. Winning pitcher A.J. Bordas went 5-for-5, while Aric St. Germain had three hits and four RBIs.
The Meeting Place Restaurant boasts a five-game unbeaten streak after taking two games each from Choice Design Remodeling and MPI. Meeting Place topped the Designers 17-2 and 19-1, before besting MPI, 20-0 and 18-2.
Boland’s Cafe, Porky’s Cafe and Connelly Construction all have four-game winning streaks after registering sweeps.
Boland’s downed the Ghostbusters 13-1 and 17-7, Porky’s pelted Pennsylvania Steel, 10-0 and 14-2 and Connelly topped the Militia, 16-1 and 18-3.
