The 4th annual Sunset Run For The Warriors® provides the community the chance to participate in a low cost race, while honoring service members, veterans and families of the fallen within the community and our nation.
The race will be held on Sunday, Aug. 18, and this year includes a 5K distance along with the 10K and 1-Mile Walk/Run.
Online registration is $20 with special pricing for active duty military, military family members, veterans and students and will be open until midnight, Thursday, Aug. 15.
Wounded service members and Gold Star families register for free. Register today or learn more by visiting: hopeforthewarriors.org/sheltonrun
In keeping with tradition, this event will begin with an opening ceremony at 4:15 p.m., including singing of the National Anthem.
The opening ceremony honors local wounded heroes and families of the fallen. It provides a time to remember those who have given of themselves in the line of duty. The races begin at 5 p.m.
“The Run For The Warriors® was created as a means to thank our service members for their sacrifices,” Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors® president said. “We are thankful to the city of Shelton for supporting this race.”
All proceeds will benefit Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.

The mission of Hope For The Warriors® is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members and to help restore a sense of self, the family unit, and hope for our service members and our military families.
