Tomato growers can compete: Largest, ugliest, most unique, etc.

Shelton-TomatoThe Trumbull Tomato Tournament is a contest sure to bring smiles to back-yard tomato growers in the region.

Open to the public, the entry fee is $10 to compete in the five categories: Largest tomato, nicest cluster, best tasting tomato, ugliest tomato and most unique tomato.

The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. at Old Mine Park, 198 Old Mine Road (near the intersection of Routes 25 and 111), Trumbull.

The winner of the largest tomato leaves with a Trumbull Tomato Tournament jacket.
