The Valley United Way will have a “CANtastic Construction Competition” to generate nonperishable food item donations for local food pantries.
The event, part of the fifth annual Harvest House program, will enable individuals and groups to build a unique structure with food items collected for the Valley pantries.
It is open to people of all ages and will take place Sunday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (the Riverwalk) on Canal Street in Shelton.
Certificates will be awarded in four categories: Most Creative, Most Patriotic, Best Valley Landmark, and Most Tasty.
Using your creativity
“Help us build out ‘Can’ Do Village using your creativity while providing meals for Valley families in need,” organizers said in publicity material.
People can form a team of friends, family and neighbors; collect the nonperishable items; then use their imagination to create a structure with the items at the event.
