To the Editor:
On Friday July 19, our son Joseph W. Budahazy suddenly passed away at the way too early age of 39. My wife and I believed that Joe was a unique individual destined to do something special. Your kind words and the fond memories you all shared with us reinforced and validated our beliefs.
Joe touched so many lives in such a positive manner, he was indeed a very special person. The outpouring of love and support we received from relatives, friends and co-workers in our darkest time was extremely comforting and had a calming effect on our entire family.
So many of you gave your time to be with us to console and comfort us. Some sent flowers and fruit baskets and so many of you brought so much food to our house that our refrigerator was overflowing.
Our goal to establish the Joseph W. Budahazy Scholarship Fund to be awarded each year to a student graduating from Shelton High School who plans to pursue a career in engineering is now a reality.
We feel that this will enable us to keep Joe’s memory alive and will do what he so enjoyed, which is helping other people.
The generous contributions we have received to date have provided a great start. Anyone interested to obtaining more information can contact me at the address, phone number or email listed below.
I think my son Mike put it best, “If a man’s wealth were to be measured in terms of friendship, Joe died as one of the wealthiest people who ever lived.”
We cannot even begin to properly express our gratitude to all of you for your support and friendship during this most trying and difficult time. God bless each and every one of you.
