Michelina R. Smith, 73, of Shelton, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2013, at Griffin Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife for 56 years to William E. Smith.
Mrs. Smith was born in Ansonia on Oct. 5, 1939, daughter of the late James and Mary Mirisola Lipani. She was a resident of Ansonia before moving to Shelton in 1989.
Michelina was employed as a secretary at Griffin Hospital for 30 years and later at Trumbull High School for 15 years, until her retirement in 2010.
She enjoyed Italian music, cooking, vacations with her family and especially shopping.
In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Smith of S. Daytona Beach, FL and Donna Smith of Ansonia, cherished granddaughter, Kristin Smith of FL, two great-grandchildren, Kasey and William Collins of FL and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, William J. Smith and a sister, Mary Applebaum.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 20, 2013, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 7:00 pm, a funeral service and celebration of Michelina’s life will take place with Deacon Richard Renker officiating. Private inurnment will take place in Mt. St. Peter’s Mausoleum in Derby.
