The Daughters of the American Revolution local chapter is inviting the community to celebrate Constitution Week from Sept. 17 to 23. The week commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1789.
“The U.S. Constitution has endured longer than any other constitution in the world and has been used by many other countries as a model for drafting their own constitutions,” stated a Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman DAR Chapter press release. “Fly your flag with pride.”
The DAR perpetuates the memory and spirit of the men and women who won American independence. The group also helps maintain historic state properties.
Any woman over 18 who can prove an ancestor served in the American Revolution is a prospective member. For details go to www.sarahriggshumphreysDAR.org.
