Events at Plumb: Knitting, Lego building and more

Afternoon Knitters — Wednesdays, Aug. 28 and Sept. 4, 1 p.m. Local knitters, new members welcome; meets in main floor reading room for the summer.

 

Library Lego Club — Wednesday, Aug. 28, 6 p.m. Kids 3-12, free, drop-in and create original constructions using LEGOs/ Duplos provided by the library, this month’s challenge is animals. Each child’s creation goes on display until the next club meeting. Library Legos/ Duplos do not go home and no personal Legos/Duplos.

 

Digging into AlphaBits — Thursdays, Aug. 29 and Sept. 5, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.

 

Stay & Play — Fridays, Aug. 30 and Sept. 6, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.

 

Teen Volunteer Orientation — Friday, Aug. 30, 12:30 p.m. Teens 13-19 interested in school credit for volunteering at the library need to attend with a parent.

 

Teen Advisory Board — Friday, Aug. 30, 3 p.m. Teens 13-19 help with library décor, teen collections and planning teen activities; snacks.

 

Fun for Little Ones — Tuesdays, Sept. 3 and 10, 10 a.m. Mrs. Fritsch offers stories, songs and movement for babies and toddlers up to age 2 in this engaging and entertaining drop-in program; siblings welcome.

 

knit! — Tuesdays, Aug. 27 and Sept. 3, 6 p.m. Knitters meet to share and support.

 

Home Delivery — Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials. Contact the branch at 203-926-0111. A project underwritten with support from the Friends of the Library and the Valley Community Foundation.
