Seniors in the Naugatuck Valley area will continue to enjoy a daily delivery of Meals on Wheels, along with weekly Homemaking Services, thanks to a grant from the Hewitt Foundation.

The $65,000 grant was recently awarded to TEAM, Inc for its senior services.

“The Hewitt Foundation is a fabulous resource for our elderly service programs and allows TEAM to stretch and reach beyond what would be possible with federal and state budget cuts,” said TEAM President and CEO Richard Knoll. “We can’t thank the Hewitt Foundation enough for their support of this critical community service.”

TEAM Director of Family Support Services Suzanne Reilly said the grant helps bridge cuts in funds from federal sources.

“Every day, frail and isolated seniors are provided a lifeline with a nutritious meal and housekeeping assistance,” she said. “The Hewitt grant allows  the continuation of programs for Valley seniors who will be impacted by budget cuts. These services allow our seniors to remain independent and healthy.”

Meals on Wheels delivers a daily meal to homebound elderly residents throughout the Valley.

TEAM’s four drivers deliver more than 200 meals each day. More information can be found on TEAM’s website teaminc.org; or by contacting TEAM’s Nutrition Coordinator Ron Boucher at 203-736-5420, ext. 227.
