Police urge safety this holiday weekend

As we find ourselves coming up to the beginning of the Labor Day weekend, it is the goal of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association to ensure that all those in Connecticut, residents and visitors alike, have a safe Labor Day weekend.

To that end, we will continue to have a police presence on our roadways, waterways and throughout our cities and towns, ensuring safe travel and responsible behavior throughout the Labor Day weekend.

Report suspicious behavior

We also ask all to continue to help us make Connecticut safer by observing and reporting suspicious and unsafe activity over this holiday weekend. The non-emergency number for the Shelton Police Department is 203-924-1544.

At this time of year we know that our communities are transitioning from the summer activities, events and vacations to the start of school, after-school events and fall sports programs.

The summer traffic flow, pedestrian activity and commute have already begun to transition to the fall traffic flow. We are reminding residents to plan accordingly and use extra caution over the next few weeks as we all become accustomed to the new flow of traffic.

The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association is an organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the residents of the state of Connecticut; to aiding other government bodies within and external to Connecticut in the administration of justice, ensuring that all are treated equally before the law.

The association strives to provide service to the public of the highest attainable quality by constantly searching for those methods that will keep Connecticut law enforcement in the forefront of public safety issues.
