In April, Gilligan Nostrant died after a three-year battle against acute lymphocytic leukemia.

About $900 was raised during the event. Thompson and Gilligan Nostrant were best friends, and Thompson organized the car wash.

From left, Kaitlin Kelley of Shelton (SHS ’06), Geoffrey Carr of Orange, Dan Carr of Milford (Katie Thompson’s fiancé) and Kristen Kingsley of Shelton promote the car wash while standing near Meadow Street, in front of EMS headquarters.

Donations from the Team Briana car wash, held at the Echo Hose EMS headquarters, will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her name.

Was creative and witty

Briana Gilligan Nostrant

Thompson described Gilligan Nostrant as creative and witty. “You always knew you were in for a laugh when you were with her,” Thompson said.

Gilligan Nostrant was survived by her parents, three siblings, and her husband David Nostrant. She and Dave Nostrant were married a few days before her passing in the presence of her immediate family and many viewers via Skype.

“Their wedding was the definition of true love and dedication,” friends said.

Gilligan Nostrant also will be remembered as part of the Light the Night event on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. at Lighthouse Point in New Haven.
