The renovation work took a month to complete and was done by MacKenzie Painting and Coating Specialists. The pool reopened to the public on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

“I think people will be pleasantly surprised at the result,” said Ronald Herrick, Shelton parks and recreation director. “It’s much brighter. We’re very happy with how the job was done.”

Next, the pool area’s bleacher section may undergo the same process, depending on the potential cost, Herrick said.

Mayor Mark Lauretti said he is open to the idea of also possibly doing the bleachers. “It does make sense,” he said.
