Business began in 1949

The business began as Oronoque Orchards in 1949. Betty Winton would make apple pies with her recipe and sell them at a weekend farmstand in Stratford.

Her daughter, Susan Winton, opened the Shelton business in 1993 — eight years after the original bakery in Stratford had been destroyed by a fire.

In 2011 and 2012, Oronoque Farms was voted as having the Best Apple Pie in the state by Connecticut magazine.
