Alex’s Lemonade Stand this weekend

Beardsley’s Cider Mill and Orchard in Shelton will host its eighth annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand to help fight childhood cancer from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14 and 15. The cider mill is at 278 Leavenworth Road (Route 110).

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is a nonprofit organization that has evolved from a young cancer patient’s front-yard lemonade stand to a nationwide fund-raising movement for childhood cancer.

For four years, despite her deteriorating health, Alexandra “Alex” Scott hosted an annual lemonade stand to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Beardsley’s Cider Mill and Orchard also will offer fresh-pressed cider, apples, cider doughnuts, cookies, local honey, maple syrup and maple candy, jams and jellies, fruit butters, pumpkin cheesecake, farm-baked pies and unique gifts.

During the weekend, 100% of the lemonade donations and a portion of the cider mill’s profits will be sent directly to ALSF.
