Robert D. Scinto, chairman of Shelton-based R.D. Scinto Inc., has pledged a $20,000 anniversary sponsorship gift toward the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s 2013 Restore Hope Banquet on Sept. 26.
This is the second year that Scinto has supported the nonprofit organization with a large contribution. In 2012, the developer was a $10,000 sponsor.
The mission’s 2013 Matching Challenge Campaign raised $166,000, exceeding the campaign goal of $150,000.
The Bridgeport Rescue Mission assists those that are hungry, homeless and addicted through a yearlong educational program, Biblical counseling and case management.
‘Compassion’ and ‘giving spirit’
Scinto is known for supporting nonprofit agencies and other causes that benefit people in the community, according to a Bridgeport Rescue Mission press release. Mission officials said Scinto believes in “treating all people with dignity” and “appreciates the mission’s work to care for the poor and those struggling to overcome addictions.”
Terry Wilcox, mission executive director, said the organization is grateful for Scinto’s support. “Bob’s compassion for the less fortunate is very real and he demonstrates it through his dedicated leadership and giving spirit,” Wilcox said.
John Maxwell speaks at banquet
Scinto, his wife and their guests will attend the mission’s 20th anniversary Restore Hope Banquet at the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa, 243 Tresser Blvd., Stamford. The keynote speaker is John C. Maxwell, a leadership speaker, trainer and author.
