Afternoon Knitters — Wednesdays, Sept. 18 and 25, 1 p.m. Local knitters, new members welcome; meets in main floor reading room for the summer.
AlphaBits — Thursdays, Sept. 19 and 26, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in, siblings welcome.
Stay & Play — Fridays, Sept. 20 and 27, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.
Teen Book Club — Saturday, Sept. 21, 12:30 p.m. Teens 12-19 drop in for discussion over a quick lunch. No registration, pick up a copy of the book in the teen room.
Teen Boost — Saturday Sept. 21, 1:45 p.m. Teens 12-19 drop in for cooking, crafts and more. Call 203-924-9461 for details, or just drop in and be surprised.
Teen Movie Critics — Saturday, Sept. 21, 3 p.m., ages 13-19 drop in to watch and critique movies of all ages and genres. A small dinner is provided with discussion over the meal. If a movie has a rating of “R” permission slips will be mandatory.
Budding Bookworms — Mondays, Sept. 23 and 30, 10:30 a.m. A themed drop in story and craft time for kids 1-5 years old and their caregivers.
Reading Detectives — Mondays, Sept. 23 and 30, 6 p.m., children in grades K-4 join school librarian Miss Kathi sharing the educational weekly themes for story and discussion, plus make-and-take projects to reinforce reading skills taught and tested for in school every day: Sequencing, predicting, contrast and comparison, character traits, setting, inference, personal connections. Drop in, no registration, sign up at desk for reminder email notices.
Fun for Little Ones — Tuesdays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 10 a.m. Mrs. Fritsch offers stories, songs and movement for babies and toddlers up to age 2 in this engaging and entertaining drop-in program; siblings welcome.
Plumb Picassos — Tuesdays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 2 p.m. A drop in art based story time explores art through picture books and then kids create original pieces, Freezer Dance and play “Miss Maura Says.”
knit! — Tuesdays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 6 p.m. Knitters meet to share and support.
On display — Miniature porcelain boxes: Limoges works of art in painted porcelain plus china imitations of the antiques from a local collector; Roseville, McCoy – pottery, real thing or lookalikes?
Home Delivery — Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials.
